This year Blissfield Chamber's merchant and corporate-member sponsors have come together to offer our community and visitors alike, the most exciting kick-off to the Christmas holiday season ever... Yuletide 2002!
Santa Parade
Friday evening, November 8, the DDA-sponsored parade brings Santa to town and we officially light the community Christmas tree located in Bachmayer Parking Lot. The parade begins from the Blissfield State Bank parking lot at 7:00 PM and is open to all. It promises to be a real family-oriented event. Bring your kids or grandkids and march with Saint Nick! Rumor has it that Santa will bring his real, live reindeer!

The Blissfield Yuletide 2002 takes place Friday, November 8 through Sunday, November 10. Participating stores will be open Friday, 10 am - 7 pm; Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm; and Sunday, Noon-6 pm
Yuletide 2002 Drawings -- more $2,000 awarded!

Over $2,000 in
prizes will be awarded at the Chamber's Yuletide 2002 drawing that
precedes our annual Parade of Lights. Yuletide customers receive a
chance to win each time they make a purchase at participating
merchants.
The drawing for all the prizes takes
place at 6:15 PM, December 14, in downtown Blissfield, just before the
fantastic Parade of Lights. While
most winners need not be present to win, some lucky people present at the
drawing will win special prizes, just because they are there! |

The Third Annual Parade of Lights
| The excitement of the season continues the evening of December 14, with the extremely popular, Blissfield Chamber's, Parade of Lights. Once again we expect every type of entrant… from light-decorated combines and fire trucks to twirlers with glowing-batons. There is great interest in this event from both potential entrants and anxious parade watchers. Train Rides offered by Adrian & Blissfield Railroad Saturday, November 9, from Noon 'til 2 PM!
At noon on Saturday, Nov. 9, the train departs from the East Blissfield A & B Railroad Depot. It reaches the downtown Visitors Center/Museum at 12:15 and continues to the West Blissfield Depot (Hathaway House) reaching there at 12:30. The train then retraces is route stopping at each location 15 minutes apart. Departures from the Downtown Visitors Center/Museum Depot are at 12:15 PM, 12:45 PM and 1:15 PM. Don't miss this chance to "ride the rails"!
Santa Claus to visit Yuletide 2002!
We have heard from reliable sources that on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10, Ol' St. Nick will be in Blissfield. Look for him at participating merchants.
Yuletide 2002 Bed and Breakfast and Home Tours
The Yuletide committee, with the help of Bed & Breakfast inn keeper, Christine Webster of H. D. Ellis Inn B & B and Stacy Maple of Cecelia's Hat Box B & B are coordinating plans to have both B & Bs open on Sunday, November 10. Hopefully, at least two other homeowners open their homes to the public during the Yuletide Sunday. The committee has arranged for Blissfield pianists to fill the B & Bs with music during your visit. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity.
All of the homes will be open from 1 to 6 PM on the above date. Our thanks go to the B & Bs and to the homeowners for giving us another fun Yuletide event. They all Believe in Blissfield!
More, more and MORE Yuletide happenings…
On Friday, November 8, from 4 PM to 7 PM, Victorian Garden gift shop welcomes Mike Fenton, of Fenton Art Glass, to Blissfield. Mike is in town for a Fenton Family Signing Event.
On Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10, Julie Miller Kohlhaas, former Blissfield resident, and author of Making a Map, From Health to Heart Disease and Back Again, and Laurie Dickens, originally from Sand Creek, author of Wreck on the Wabash, The 1901 Railroad Disaster in Lenawee County, Michigan, will be in Blissfield to sign their recently published books. Julie will be located in the Blissfield Pharmacy on Saturday morning and in downtown Blissfield Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Laurie will sign her book at her sister's downtown gift shop, Made for Ewe both Saturday and Sunday. Tecumseh resident, Nancy Pape-Findley will also be signing her just-released book, The INVINCIBLES, The Story of Fourth Ohio Veteran Volunteer Cavalry, 1861-1865. Nancy will be in period costume and located at Treasures and Pleasures by Victoria downtown Blissfield from noon to 4 PM both Saturday and Sunday.
The Decoration Committee has great plans to once again decorate the village. Each year Blissfield is beautifully adorned, adding to the excitement and festivity of the season.
The annual Yuletide Craft Show takes place at Blissfield Elementary School on Saturday, November 9. The doors are open from 9 AM to 4 PM. Call Peggy Saxton, 517-486-4147, for details or for a booth.
The all-volunteer, Raisin Valley Model Railroad Club, proudly opens their door and presents their impressive layout on Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10. Don't this chance to see their terrific display. This all-volunteer organization relies on donations to keep its door open and to improve its presentation. Please help them out.
On Saturday, November 9, coinciding with the Yuletide 2002, the Blissfield volunteer firemen hold a fun-fill Turkey Feather-Party Raffle and the Methodist Church Hog Roast is also scheduled.
Once again, the Chamber will sponsor a Home Decorating Contest. Details will be forthcoming.
The Legion Auxiliary each year decorates the US 223-foot bridge with beautiful lights.
Churches of the community are planning Cookie, Candy and Bake Foods Sales.
