Berkeen's Heirs
Know all men for that whereas in the year eighteen hundred & forty one & 15th day of July, I Richard Nuckolls [by?] my bond in writing signed & delivered to David C. Berkeen agreed & bound myself my heirs [&c] to make a general warranty deed to the Southwest quarter of Section twenty six, Township five, Range five East of land lying in Marshall County State of Kentucky, for & in consideration of Three hundred & fifty dollars to be paid in four separate & distinct payments at different times to be made to the said David C. Burkeen his heirs [&c], [And] I having received of said D.C. Berkeen & his son J.P. Berkeen the full amount of said consideration with interest up to the time of payment the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, & said David C. Berkeen having been dead several years & I having never heretofore conveyed [by?] Deed a otherwise to the said D.C. Berkeen said quarter of land, I therefore hereby grant & convey unto the following persons viz. J.P. Berkeen, Wm. S. Berkeen, Jesse Berkeen, Eunice Houston (formerly Berkeen), Ailsey Henson (formerly Berkeen), Nancy F. Hand (formerly Berkeen), Pansidia V. Whitlock (formerly Berkeen), [John?] Berkeen & Rita Berkeen (now Rita Hall) children & heirs at law of said D.C. Berkeen Dec'd., the said Southwest quarter of section twenty township five Range five East lying in the County of Marshall State of Kentucky. [and] do & will forever warrant & defend to the said children & heirs at law. In witness whereof I have hereto affixed my signature this _____ day of March 1860

I J. W. Dycus Clerk of the County Court of said County do certify that this deed from Richard Nuckolls to the heirs of David C. Burkeen was on the 11th instant proven before me in my office by the oath of Wm. S. Berken one of the subscribing witnesses thereto who testified also to the signature of James Williams and Isah Henderson the other subscribing witnesses thereto to be the act and deed of the said Nuckolls and lodged therein for record. Whereupon said deed and this certificate have been duly recorded in said office. Given under my hand this 25th day of March 1861.
