WWF Sunday Night Heat Report - November 22, 1998
Report by Joe DeLeon
Hosted by Michael Cole and Jim Ross
Taped from Columbus, Ohio
• Rock Interview (w/Vince and Shane McMahon, Big Bossman, Ken Shamrock, and Associates)
-Vince McMahon first bragged about the The Rock. He announced The Rock had decided to defend the Heavyweight Title against Mankind at In Your House: Rock Bottom. He said Austin would have "No Chance in Hell" to re-gain the Heavyweight Title. He said that The Undertaker's attack on Austin the previous Monday on Raw is War gave him an idea, and that idea was that Austin would qualify for the Royal Rumble if he defeated The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match at In Your House: Rock Bottom. He also announced - supposedly for the WWF fans - Sgt. Slaughter would step down from his Commmissioner position, and a new WWF Commissioner would be named the next night on Raw is War
• Jim Ross and Michael Cole announced Stone Cold Steve Austin suffered a blackout at a WWF House Show today in San Jose, California (it is an angle, since Sunday Night Heat show was taped and not live).
• The Hardy Boyz and Too Much went to a No-Contest.
-Before the match, Scott Taylor said he loved Brian Christopher. After Jackyl came to the commentating booth, and introduced The Jackylites (Faarooq and Bradshaw), they ran-in, and started to take out both tag teams. Following the match, Christopher carried Taylor to the locker room, as if he was taking him to bed.
• A call from Senior WWF official, Jack Lanza, from San Jose, California, was dispatched to the commentators. Lanza said Stone Cold Steve Austin was taken to a medical center.
• Backstage, the associates informed Vince McMahon about Stone Cold Steve Austin's blackout.
• Gangrel (w/The Brood) defeated Al Snow (w/J.O.B. Squad) by Disqualification.
-Al Snow had the match with the Snow Plow, but Edge nailed him from behind with a Missle Dropkick. Scorpio then got involved, and the referee caught him. Al Snow was disqualified. The J.O.B. Squad and The Brood continued to brawl, until several referees broke it up. Both stables left through the crowd.
• Backstage, Kevin Kelly interviewed Droz and Animal. Droz didn't even mention Hawk, but talked like Hawk. Droz basically said the new LOD 2000 would run through the WWF. Animal didn't talk, and just nodded his head.
• The Big Bossman defeated Marc Mero (w/Jacqueline) with a Sideslam.
-After Jacqueline accidently tripped Marc Mero, The Big Bossman finished off the match with a Sideslam. Following the match, Mero told Jackie that he brought her in to the WWF to take care of Sable, but Sable had taken care to her. Mero then fired Jackie and left.
• Before going to a commercial break, Mankind walked toward the ring, with his Hardcore Title and a leaf blower.
• Mankind Interview.
-Mankind said he was saving the leaf blower for Father's Day. He called Vince McMahon, Dad. He said he could forgive everything, but would never forgive McMahon for making him wear tuck shoes. He tossed his shoes to fans, and said, "It looks like they're chasing Mark McGwire's 62nd home-run." He showed off Mr. Socko and said he would use it on Vince McMahon. The McMahon's appeared near the entrance-way. Vince told Mankind he would defend the Hardcore Title against two individuals on Raw is War - The Big Bossman and Ken Shamrock.
• Jeff Jarrett (w/Debra McMichael) defeated Kurrgan (w/The Oddities and Insane Clown Posse) via Pinfall.
-Sable did color commentary during the match. The Oddities got after Insane Clown Posse for getting on the mat and distracting Kurrgan. The referee was on the outside of the ring with The Oddities and ICP. In the meantime, Debra McMichael distracted Kurrgan, which let Jeff Jarrett nail Kurrgan from behind with a guitar. Jarrett then made the pin to take the win. Following the match, Sable and Debra exchanged a few words. Sable was apparently not happy with what Debra did.
• Backstage, Kevin Kelly intervewed Val Venis. Venis discussed his upcoming Interncontinental Title match with Ken Shamrock, that would take placer later in the show.
• Another call from Jack Lanza was dispatched to the commentators. He said Stone Cold Steve Austin was recovering.
• Ken Shamrock defeated Val Venis by Disqualification, to retain the Intercontinental Title.
-After Ken Shamrock had Val Venis in the Ankle Lock, Mankind intefered, and nailed Shamrock with the leaf blower. The Big Bossman ran-in, and he and Shamrock destroyed Mankind with the leaf blower.
