WHY VINCE McMAHON IS RULING AND ERIC BISCHOFF IS STRUGGLING.....
In the '80's, Vince McMahon and the WWF were held in many regards as the ONLY wrestling federation. Hell, it took us a while before some of us new the NWA and the AWA were out there. McMahon had a great roster of talent that included such great wrestlers as Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Andre The Giant, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Ultimate Warrior, Demolition, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and many, many more. With "Wrestlemania" serving as the wrestling event of the year, Hogan, Warrior, and some others were turned into legends that couldn't be touched. Then it all changed. Hogan retired, The Warrior's on again/ off again appereances alienated fans, and McMahon had to keep his federation going with some of his lesser known talents. In the early '90's, Vince turned Kevin Nash into Diesel, Scott Hall into Razor Ramon, Bret "The Hitman" Hart into a World Champion, and Shawn Micheals became the "Heartbreak Kid". It was all good for Vince the takeover began. In 1996, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would leave the WWF. Diesel was a former World Champion, Razor a former IC champion. Both went to WCW, where WWF legends Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage and many more were all actively competing. Then WCW Vice President Eric Bischoff created the perfect angle. What would fans think, if WWF stars came into WCW vowing to take it over, and broke rules like never before, because they KNEW they were the ones fans had been coming to see over the years. With Nash and Hall became The Outsiders and with the newly heeled "Hollywood" Hogan, they turned the wrestling world on it's head with the New World Order. McMahon was lost. The nWo was the rave of the wrestling world, most of his stars had left for WCW and Bischoff (The 1-2-3 Kid, Shawn Waltman, would leave as well and become Syxx in the nWo) and even the WCW talent that had been there for a while (Sting, Diamond Dallas Page, Lex Luger) were becoming huge fan favorites all over again. For the next two years, WCW ruled over the wrestling world. It seemed the final nail had been put in McMahon's coffin when his top gun so to speak, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, left and went to WCW in December of 1997. However, Bret's departure might have been a blessing instead of a curse. Afterwards, things started to look up for Vince. WWF Monday Night Raw began to beat WCW Monday Nitro in the ratings war after the much-hyped and very well produced "Wrestlemania XIV" rocked us all. WCW's "Starrcade" was supposed to be the event of a lifetime, instead, Kevin Nash didn't show up and the Sting/Hogan match turned out to be a dud. "Wrestlemania" on the other hand was excellent, each match was constructed well and the Tyson/ Austin/ Michaels angle was great. It's now clear why Vince McMahon is on top again and Eric Bischoff is thinking, "What the hell happened?" It's simple, even though Bischoff still has the better talent roster and could easily have better angles, it's Vince that is giving us the best storylines. Every pay-per-view since Wrestlemania has been great. Stone Cold Steve Austin has taken over and become for the '90's WWF what Hogan was for the '80's WWF, Degeneration-X has become the perfect answer to the nWo (Syxx even returned in 1998 and became DX's X-Pac) and fans are screaming for more. I'm still entertained by the on-going feud with Austin and McMahon. Why is WWF winning the war?
Because they aren't fighting with better guns, they're just hitting they're targets right center in the bullseye.
